Are you ready…I have your new favorite beer + brunch place – Milk & Hops in New York City!
This stylish little beer shop is also a bar and has locations in Chelsea & Astor Place. I cannot speak for the Astor Place location, but the Chelsea location has wooden booths with marble accents and white subway tiled walls. With growler fills, artisan grilled cheeses, cute illustrations, and a fab beer list – this is my new go-to place for civilized day drinking. Also – flights are $10 – and with their awesome selects – this is a killer deal.
I do not think you can go wrong with their brunch menu, but I’ll go ahead and let you know what my tops picks are. The Truffle Shuffle grilled cheese with honey was so good I almost got a second one. They definitely did not skimp on the honey. Luckily I had planned ahead and ordered a small cheese plate to go with my flight – which were equally as wonderful with the particularly hoppy brews.
From the left:
Firestone Walker – Pivo Pils (Pilsner) 5.3% ABV
Mystic – Harmonizing with Trees (Sour) 4.5% ABV
Hill Farmstead – Double Galaxy (IPA) 8% ABV
Other Half – Emerald Cities (Double IPA) 8.3% ABY
If you like sours – Mystic’s Harmonizing with Trees should be on your list – I highly recommend it. Next runner up was Hill Farmstead’s Double Galaxy IPA – an unfiltered hoppy beer that was not overwhelming to the taste buds without food. Other Half’s Emerald Cities and Firestone Walker’s Pivo Pils were good – but better with food -especially the Emerald Cities.
And when you’re done enjoying your cheese and beer – pick up some more brews for when you get home (or your way home!) From Jack’s Abby to Westbrooke to Grimm to Mikkeller – I spent more $$$ on my way out then on my meal. Whoops!
Check Milk & Hops out – I don’t think you’ll be disappointed 🙂 Cheers!
